FOR too long Slough has been the punchline in jokes about towns outside of London. And for too long people have wrongly thought the worst about our great community.
Well finally, it is good to see the Daily Telegraph sitting up and taking note of our vibrant, dynamic and well-connected town.
This week we are pleased to report the broadsheet newspaper has named Slough as the 'best commuter town in the UK'.
With top schools, excellent transport links and high employment figures, it is easy to see why.
While there is work to do in redeveloping our struggling town centre, there is plenty to be pleased about.
A lively cultural hub in the form of the Curve and a fascinating museum with hours of history to ponder.
We welcome this positive coverage of Slough - and we're sure it won't be the last poll we top.
